Save a Print Ready PDF
MHPL accept the following artwork files for print purposes. Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Quark Express and Microsoft Office.
Artwork sized proportionally or 100% size
It is essential that the artwork is not stretched in any way as it could lead to problems with printing.
Images
(Measured in dots per square inch – dpi)
Images should be saved at 300dpi and embedded
Tip: Saving a low quality image (72dpi – i.e. webpages Web images) tp 300dpi will not improve the quality
Fonts
Don use smaller than 6pt when designing artwork up to a3 size
Don’t use small than 10pt when designing large format print above A3 Top Tip Embed fonts or convert to outlines
Bleed
All artwork should have a 3mm bleed area around it. With Microsoft Word PowerPoint and Adobe Photoshop you can’t change this bleed so you must change the document size – E.g. A4 210mm 297mm becomes 216mm x 303mm with 3mm bleed around the page.
Borders
Set artwork at least 5mm from the edge of the page if it is not meant to bleed of. This is known as the ‘safe area’.
